Privacy & AI Data Practices
Last updated: July 24, 2026
What we collect
Information you give us: your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, business name, and anything you type in the assistant or submit in a form. Automatically: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) and the marketing source that referred you (for example, UTM parameters). We use your browser’s local storage — not advertising cookies — to remember your screening session and referral source. We do not currently run third-party advertising trackers on this site. We do use privacy-friendly product analytics (PostHog) to understand which parts of the site are used and how the assistant performs — configured without advertising cookies, without recording your screen, and without capturing what you type into forms or the assistant; we do not attach your IP address to analytics events, and it respects your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting.
Documents you share
If you share a policy document, it is used only to generate a preliminary review, is processed in memory, and is not saved by the CovWell app. Please do not send health, medical, or benefits documents through the site. Those documents are handled only by our licensed staff and are never sent to the AI.
How we use your information
To provide general coverage information, to have a licensed advisor follow up with you, and to place insurance if you ask us to. A licensed producer reviews any recommendation before it is acted on. The assistant provides general information only, not insurance advice. We do not use your information for unrelated marketing, and we do not sell it.
AI processing
You are chatting with an automated AI assistant, and we disclose that on every screen where it appears. Your messages and any allowed document are processed by third-party AI models — Google (Gemini on Vertex AI) and Anthropic (Claude) — to generate responses. Documents you upload for AI review are first processed by Google Document AI (which extracts the text) and Google Cloud Sensitive Data Protection (which removes personal identifiers before analysis); these run only for the duration of the request and are not stored by us. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it to train third-party models. By default we do not retain your chat transcript with your contact record. Please share only what you’re comfortable providing and avoid sensitive personal or health details. Documents you identify as health, medical, or benefits — or that appear to be — are handled only by licensed staff, not the AI.
Fraud & bot prevention
To protect these free tools from automated abuse, when you submit a contact request, request a quote or broker review, book a meeting, or upload a document, we may use Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise to tell real people from bots. reCAPTCHA collects device and software information and sends it to Google for analysis; that use is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. We use it only for security — never for advertising — and it loads only when you take one of those actions, not on every page.
Who we share it with
Service providers that help us operate — hosting, scheduling, messaging, our AI vendor, product analytics, error monitoring, and our agency management system — under contracts limiting their use of your information. We do not share your information with an insurance carrier until you ask a licensed advisor to obtain quotes. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How long we keep it
Contact and lead information is kept as long as needed to follow up on your request and to meet insurance record-keeping obligations. Chat transcripts are not retained with your contact record by default. Server logs rotate on a short schedule.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, form submissions are rate-limited and validated, and access to lead information is limited to licensed staff of the agency. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we also minimize what we collect in the first place.
Your rights (California)
California residents may ask us: what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. We will never treat you differently for exercising these rights. To make a request, email reviews@bollinsure.com or call 562-COVWELL — we verify requests by contacting you at the email or phone number on file, and we respond within the timelines California law requires. You may also make a request through an authorized agent; we will confirm it with you directly before acting on it.
We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising — and we have not done either in the preceding 12 months — so there is no sale or sharing to opt out of. We treat browser opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control as confirmation of that preference. We also do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger a “right to limit” under California law: sensitive details are not requested, and health, medical, and benefits documents are handled only by licensed staff — never the AI.
Children
This site is for business owners and adults seeking insurance information. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this page
If our practices change, we will update this page and its “Last updated” date before the change takes effect. Material changes will be noted plainly at the top of this page.
